Happy Belated Weekend everyone - This is one of those images where the viewer would never guess what the subject actually is. For me, I enjoy this image even more so because I know the source, but also because of the unexpected nature in which I found it. Wandering around Rapid City, I stumbled across a memorial for the Berlin Airlift, including tank traps and a piece of the actual Berlin Wall. The portion of the wall had been gifted to the city in appreciation for the contribution of airmen stationed there in support of the airlift operation bringing supplies to Berlin during the days of the wall. The large concrete slab wasn't an interesting subject in whole, so I focused on this very small steel connector (I think) that was sticking out. I used a pinhole editing approach here to highlight both the metal and some of the texture of the concrete while allowing the edges to go dark. I thought it was appropriate considering the time period in which this particular subject was conceived. Enjoy your Friday -
