The 365 - 8/17/17 - Day 25

Happy Thursday everyone.  Simple post tonight.  Driving back from Devil's Tower back toward the Black Hills, we drove past this simple barn along the highway.  I love grabbing shots from the passenger seat along the highway.  This was an easy quick grab, but I love how it came out in B&W.    Enjoy your night everyone.

In Galena, there are the remnants of an old church that hearkens back to the more successful days of this old mining town.  The structure of the church and most of the foundation has been reclaimed by the Hills, but a good bit of the old structure that was once the steeple remains.  A portion of one of the walls had been removed which gave this unique view into the decaying structure.

Happy Tuesday evening everyone - I thought today's post should be about new beginnings and new growth.  This image was taken on the along the edge of Rimrock trail, growing among the the crushed grasses that are often found near the trail path.   It survives and thrives where it is difficult.  Just thought we could all use a little bit of positive this week.  Enjoy -

Happy Monday everyone, and hopefully a great start to everyone's week.  Today's post is a simple one.  There was what I believe was a type of wild pepper plant growing off of a retention wall near the cabin.  We were never certain as to exactly what it was, but it was something I had never seen before.  I got a few frames with this setup on black as one of my favorites.  Enjoy the week everyone -

The 365 - 8/13/17 - Day 21

I have always enjoyed water sports, even if I was never really particularly great at them.  But I was always captivated by the visuals.  The sleek lines of the rider cutting through the water,  and the spray of the wake that slices up into the air have been cut into my memory ever since I was a little kid and watched my uncles appear to perfect the very difficult sports.  While setting up for a sunset, I was able to watch this rider cutting through Pactola Reservoir.  For me, the rider wasn't as important as the experience of visuals.  To put it another way, who was riding wasn't as important to me as the fact that they were riding.  So for this shot, I used a longer shutter speed to capture the motion of the rider, and in doing so, give him his anonymity.  With this, this image becomes more about slicing through the water and the spray of the wake.  Just like I remembered it as a kid.
