The 365 - 8/12/17- Day 20

The weekend is here!  Yesterday was a very exciting and full day for me, hence the missed post on the blog.  So today, I am doing the most Saturday of Saturday things and chilling out, reading some news, drinking some coffee, and generally feeling pretty lazy.  So today's post is all about how I feel - just like this old truck watching the world go by.   A little battered, but hanging in there.  Happy weekend everyone!

Happy Friday everyone - It's my final Friday of summer before school starts back up.  So in honor of this, I'm posting this image from Black Hill's very own School House Gulch.  I stumbled across this scene while photo scouting this summer.  This was a quick grab on that trip, but I look forward to heading back over the different seasons.  Enjoy your Friday!

Very happy Thursday evening everyone.  Late post tonight, but the day gets away from everyone every now and then.  Simple post today highlighting some macro work.  This particular leaf has a hydrophobic quality that makes the rain drops bead up in almost perfect spheres.  Enjoy!

The 365 - 8/9/17 - Day 17

The hikes around Devil's Tower give some of the best views of the surrounding valley.  This particular river had caught my eye early on in the hike and I made several different images focusing on this river.  I think this one ended up being one of my favorites because of both the drama in the lighting, but also the perceived tranquility and silence the river has flowing under the road.  It does also connect with my over-arching theme of nature vs. manmade but not in a way that is banging you over the head.  Happy Humpday!

Connecting with yesterday's post, I wanted to share a more authentic view of Art Alley in Rapid City, South Dakota.  While I am not there on a daily basis, I do get to visit at least once each year and it seems the work in the alley changes every time I go.  It's amazing to view the creative talents on display and the artists' use of each nook and cranny to display their art.  This particular spot in the alley always grabbed my eye. The strong lines of the stair case and the dark border lock your eye into the messaging in the bottom corner.    The entire alley is an incredibly colorful experience, so naturally I kept this one in B&W.    Enjoy your Tuesday!
