The Enthusiastically Amateurish Photographer

The 365 - 8/2/17 - Day 10

Riding shotgun on a road trip provides great opportunities to photograph.  I really loved the way the wide open skies of Wyoming overshadowed the wide open road.  This mix has always been my view of South Dakota.

The 365 - 8/1/17 - Day 9

My grandfather owns a an old player piano, which was a source of nearly endless amusement when I was younger.  I thought it was absolutely amazing to have this piano play these incredible songs with nothing more than the pumping of my feet at the pedals.  I have in the past enjoyed photographing his collection of rolls for the piano, and this summer I grabbed this simple shot.  I think there may have been something in the title.

The 365 - 7/31/17 - Day 8

The bright afternoon sun coupled with the shade of the spruce and pine took away any chance for any kind of even light on the subject.  With that in mind, I embraced what I had and went with a more moody image of the tall grass stalks found just about everywhere.  With this, I saw something with the camera I hadn't seen before.  This image is one of a 3 set image which will be going on my wall later this fall.

The 365 - 7/30/17 - Day 7

Devil's Tower is a can't miss experience, but not everything revolves around the actual monument.  I think my favorite part of my last trip there were the vistas on the various hikes around the monument.  This simple view was one of the many memorable ones.  "A simple path through a green sea" was the only thing going through my head here.

The 365- 7/29/17 - Day 6

On my last day in Galena, my grandfather and I did a quick walk around his cabin.  We ran across a hazelnut plant and my grandfather, always the teacher, took the opportunity to provide a brief lesson.  Through the lens I saw the contrast between the brand new hazelnut and the years of experience in his hands.
